Nacido en Sevilla, pero con un alma cordobesa, Vicente Amigo tenía 20 años cuando ganó el primer premio en el Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Flamenca en Badajoz en 1998. un año más tarde ganó el primer premio de Guitarra en el Concurso Nacional de Cante de las Minas de La Unión y el premio Ramón Montoya de Guitarra Concierto en el XII Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba. En 1992 participó en el concierto Leyendas de guitarra en Sevilla, junto a Paco de Lucía, Keith Richards y Bob Dylan, entre otros. Vicente Amigo se encuentra firmemente entre los grandes.
Fue el primer paso hacia su consagración como uno de los grandes de todos los tiempos de la Guitarra Flamenca, con el respaldo de otros importantes premios: Grammy Latino como Mejor Álbum de Flamenco en 2001, la revista Guitar Player de Mejor Guitarrista Flamenco de 1993, dos Premios de la Música en 1998 y 1999 y un Premio Ondas en 2002.
